What Is Oud (Oudh) In Fragrance?

Oud/Oudh is one of the most expensive & popular perfume ingredients all over the world. It has an intoxicating musky smell that can be very impressive & has been used for a long time in Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East. Now, maximum perfume users using it as a base to make some fantastic fragrances for women and men.

OUD is made with the wood of the Tropical Agar (Aquilaria) tree, a genus that combines 15 different varieties. The tree is considered to have started in the Assam area of India, from there growing to populate Bangladesh & much of Southeast Asia. Wood parts off the trees are usually flared as an essence, and it’s typical for them to be used when religious functions & various festivals throughout Southeast Asia & the Middle East, including Japan, China, & India.

At the wood of this tree becomes infected with a parasitic mold called Phialophora parasitica, it responds by providing a valuable, dark, & fragrant resin. It is the perfume ingredient oud, which is also called Agalocha, aloeswood, agarwood, Oudh, or eaglewood.

Agarwood is a wonder on multiple aspects. Because the mold triggers the resin, it’s calculated that a total of 2% of these trees originate it. Not just does this increase the price of the oil, but the wood is also one of the highest rates on the market. Additionally, several of these trees are now advanced varieties.

The Use of OUD in Modern Perfumery

In today’s world of mixed fragrance formulations, Oud has reached much interest and demand. In modern times, some well-known creators have launched their scents using this cherished essential oil.

When OUD Scent used in perfume production, Oud Perfume is most frequently a base note, which leads to remain on the skin long after the others spend. Since they make the perfume’s core, base notes are energetic, substantial & long-lasting (up to 6 hours & more). They help to improve the smell of other components; and, in a few cases, they give a scent all their personal. While most wood notes are known for their earthy qualities, Oud gives a sweet fragrance and is usually featured in a manufactured version because it is so expensive to harvest.
